2021 Elouan Pinot Noir
Episode 6 was accompanied by the 2021 Elouan Pinot Noir that boasted bold raspberry and blackberry notes with a whisper of smoky essence. Winemaker, Joseph Wagner, makes “Oregon Wines with a hint of California influence.” At first taste, consumers are met with the boldness of a California red balanced beautifully with the delicacy of a classic Oregon Pinot Noir. The 2021 Pinot Noir is comprised of grapes spanning 3 different Oregon regions was intended to express, “depths of flavor, vibrancy, and suppleness.” Find out more about this wine, Joseph Wagner’s additional labels, and the downtown Napa tasting room in Episode 6!
Season 3 Episode 5:
Pink Cava
Episode 5 was accompanied by an amazing Pink Cava from Parés Baltà. This sparkling Spanish beverage boasts light notes of fruit and is delightfully bitter. It is crisp and refreshing - delicious enough to drink on its own, or add it to a bowl of sorbet for a playful dessert. Thank you to my favorite local restaurant, George + Violet’s for the recommendation and for supplying the bottle! Learn more about Cava and Parés Baltà in Episide 5! Cheers! 🥂
Season 3 Episode 4:
Chateau De Bon Ami
2019 Bordeaux
Episode 4’s guest, Teresa Perrotta, chose a Bordeaux and it comes with an amazing personal story! (Tune into the episode to hear it!) We were unable to find the exact same Bordeaux, but both were bold blends with a big voice. Pictured to the left is the Bordeaux that I was able to sample and can be found easily at your local grocery store. Bordeaux wines are blends and demonstrate why French wines are some of the best in the world. With an extremely smooth start and finish, light acidity, and notes of cherry, Bordeaux wines are perfect for every occasion. Big reds deserve big glasses, so invest in glassware that will allow you to experience this wine to the fullest!
Season 3 Episode 3:
2022 Baron Herzog Cabernet Sauvignon
Episode 3 with Lisa B Levin was accompanied by a special Kosher wine selection that has a deep and powerful multi-generational history. Herzog wine dates back to the early 19th century! Each bottle honors their ancestors surviving wars, the Holocaust, and immigrating to the US with hopes for a better life. Lisa chose this wine very close to Passover, so this selection allowed us and fellow listeners to learn more about Kosher wine and it’s significance in the Jewish Faith. We both enjoyed the big smoky essence of this Cab Sav, and would definitely drink it again. Tune into episode 3 for more details on this wine and the rich history that continues to make Herzog Wine Cellars one of the largest wine distributors in the country.
Season 3 Episode 2:
Living in 3 different states made it challenging to find a single bottle to feature for episode 2. So, we each agreed to find a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir to enjoy and I pulled out the Wooden Shoe Vineyards 2016 Pinot Noir from my wine rack. This older vintage pinot definitely displayed its maturity with a smooth finish and classic berry-forward acidic aromas. The first sip is met with tart flavors and finishes with spice and a hint of dryness. If you're local to the Willamette Valley, I highly recommend visiting the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm and experiencing the breathtaking views of the tulip fields and trying over 6 grape varietals in their tasting room at the farm as well. Wooden Shoe Vineyards is a local gem that should be sought after by all wine lovers. Cheers!

Season 3 Episode 1:
McBride Sisters Core Collection - 2021 Chardonnay
Season 3 started off strong with a beautiful 2021 Chardonnay from the McBride Sisters Collection! Curated by the women that also own and operate the brands Black Girl Magic Wine and She CAN Wines, this Chardonnay is as unique as the story behind the McBride Sisters entry into the wine industry, and into each other's lives. Their mantra, "go where you don't belong, because someday you will" empowers women and specifically, women of color, to rise as leaders in a male-dominated industry. The McBride Sisters are trailblazers, creating a legacy right before our eyes - and they're just getting started. Donae picked out this wine, and we enjoyed the crisp, citrus-forward flavors of the 2021 Chardonnay. A hint of oak is the icing on the cake. Read more about the McBride Sisters Collection and the 2021 Chardonnay on their website.
Season 2 Episode 6:
This delightful 0% ABV Brut Bubbles boasts notes of crisp apple, refreshing effervescence, and a lingering hint of honey. The best part? “Bubbles without the troubles!” Although this podcast is all about wine and wine-related beverages, I thought it was important to include a non-alcoholic option for those that are sober curious or for those that choose a sober lifestyle altogether. Check out the mocktail and food pairing recipes that Zilch offers on their website, and look for both the Brut and Rosé at your local grocery store or Target. Learn more about this wine in Season 2, Episode 6. Cheers!
Season 2 Episode 5:
Merlot à la Bouche
This Merlot était magnifique! This special wine was produced and bottled in France, and imported by New Wave Wine Co. in Portland, Oregon. The winemaker of origin (Vincent L’Amouller) produces bold reds at Chateau Fredignac in the Blaye region of France; production consisting of 70% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% each of Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Translating to “a big oenological shock,” this Merlot is so different than Merlot typically found in the U.S. It is bright, fruit forward with cherry flavors, and a subtle hint of dryness lingering in the end. It is reminiscent of PNW sour ales and is easy sipping wine. To find this wine, check out your local higher end or boutique markets. Tellement délicieux!
Season 2 Episode 4:
Antiquum Farm’s 2019 Juel
Episode 4’s featured wine is a combination of 6 selections of Pinot Noir that creates “one complete Estate wine” from Antiquum Farm! This beautifully complex wine is dedicated to and named after the owner’s son, Juel. Antiquum is committed to Grazing-based Viticulture and sees their farm “as a complex community where the vines are part of the whole, not the whole.” Their artistic view of winemaking and farming pairs perfectly with the experiences of dance that Cynthia speaks of in this episode. The wine and the episode will inspire you! Thank you Antiquum Farm for the lovely, Juel.
Season 2 Episode 3:
Hayworth Estate Wines Double E (Mini) Sparkling Brut
Episode 3’s featured wine demonstrated that good things really do come in small packages! The Accent Double E Sparkling Brut from Hayworth Estate Wines is a perfect year-round beverage, and the mini bottles make for exceptional gifts. Complete with a stone fruit essence, this sparkling wine holds a perfect balance between dryness and refreshing flavors. Visit Hayworth’s elegant tasting room in Coburg, OR and grab a bottle (or two) for yourself! Thank you Hayworth Estate Wines!
Season 2 Episode 2:
2020 Estero Red Blend - This brilliant Trader Joe's find is a California red blend that boasts, "Bold & Fearless - Wine Without Rules" right on the front label. While it is difficult to find information about this wine on the internet, most websites rate this affordable wine highly. Within each sip, you encounter "robust layers of dark fruit, plum, toasty oak and spice." Bryant is a fan and will be re-purchasing during his next trip to Trader Joe's!
Edgefield Vineyard's 2018 Black Rabbit Red - Lindsey enjoyed one of the signature wines of the McMenamin's franchise and it was easy to understand why the Black Rabbit Red Blend has been produced for over 2 decades. With bold fruit flavors like ripe marionberry and dark cherry, this red blend is beautifully jammy with a touch of spice. It is bordeaux- inspired with some signature big varietals within the blend; Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petite Verdot and Syrah. Definitely an easy drinking red wine and a must taste if you visit any of the McMenamin's pubs or gathering spots throughout Oregon or Washington.
Season 2 Episode 1:
J. Scott Cellars 2019 Petite Sirah
There is no better wine to kick off Season 2 than J. Scott Cellar’s 2019 Petite Sirah! This deep purple beauty may be derived from smaller sized grapes, but it certainly packs a punch with notes of ripe dark fruit and dark chocolate. The rich flavors of this Petite Sirah would compliment a smoked salmon or any smoked protein of choice. It would also pair nicely with a chocolate treat! Learn more about this wine in Season 2, Episode 1!
Season 1 Episode 1:
Bogle Vineyards 2018 Merlot
Bogle’s bold and luscious Merlot was definitely enjoyed by both Sophia, and myself! This robust beauty gave us major baking vibes - with notes of chocolate, baking spices, and a hint of bing cherries. The finish is dry; a classic element of Merlot, and super affordable at roughly, $9.00/bottle. This is the perfect companion for an evening by the fire. Thank you Bogle Vineyards for a beautiful Merlot!
Season 1 Episode 2:
Underwood Pinot Noir (Canned)
Meet Union Wine Company’s environmentally friendly and casually dressed canned Underwood Pinot Noir! David and I had an amazing time trying this accessible wine ($6/can) and embodying the Union Wine Company’s campaign, #pinkiesdown. Packed with cherry notes and a hint of chocolate on the finish, this tiny but mighty can is the perfect accessory to a camping trip, tailgate, or even a night at home. Simple, approachable, and delicious! Thanks Union Wine Company!
Season 1 Episode 3:
Chandon Brut - Traditional & Rosé
In order to do episode 3 justice, we needed to add some sparkle! And boy, did Chandon's Traditional and Rosé Brut Sparkling Wines shine bright! The Traditional Brut radiates apple aromas at the pop of the cork, and exudes creamy textures in between each bubble. The Rosé Brut is equally aromatic with berry notes in every sip. Both are brunch-worthy beauties that can easily be found at your local grocery store (~$24/bottle). Drink these bubbles as they come, or have fun with some wine cocktail recipes. Thank you for a dynamite sparkling wine Chandon!
Season 1 Episode 4
Cooper and Thief - Red Wine Blend
This mischievous wine was a perfect companion for Episode 4! This full bodied red was aged for three months in Bourbon Barrels and is a blend of over 6 different red wines. The beautiful Cooper and Thief Cellarmasters label and bottle shape resemble a whiskey bottle…immediately setting it apart from other bottles of wine on the shelf. The label is packed with education - everything from the 16-17% AVB (yowza!) to the signature of the individual Cellar Master. If you want a wine that stretches beyond the boundaries of tradition….check out Cooper and Thief! They can be found in grocery stores and restaurants - nationwide! Thanks Cooper and Thief!
Season 1 Episode 5:
Portlandia Vitners 2019 Pinor Noir
Portlandia’s 2019 Pinot Noir was the perfect companion for this episode. Picked out by Brittney in Florida, this delicate red is representing Oregon from coast to coast by boasting notes of cherry and hints of cedar box on the finish. Portlandia was founded by fellow Florida transplant, Damien Davis in 2008 and has built a wine business that is both award winning and accessible. You can find Portlandia wines in local grocery stores and restaurants throughout the country. Upon immediate sip, the “solid core of acidity” shines through unapologetically - like much of the material covered in this episode. Thank you Portlandia for a fabulous Oregon Pinot Noir!
Season 1 Episode 6:
Silvan Ridge 2017 Pinot Noir
Episode 6’s featured wine was the delicious 2017 Silvan Ridge Pinot Noir. Silvan Ridge boasts a rare lineage of 3 generations of female management, and is one of the 20 oldest vineyards in Oregon. This very balanced pinot noir employs fruit forward aromas at first inhale, and concludes an earthy experience with a silky finish. Jimee resonated with the silky finish and Lindsey was engulfed with perfectly ripened summer blackberries. Both also agreed that this wine is drinkable alone but could pair nicely with a rare steak or smoked salmon. The subtle tasting notes provided by Silvan Ridge make the wine inclusive and allow the consumer to discover their own tasting experience. Head wine maker, JP Valot has once again produced a spectacular wine. Bravo to Silvan Ridge; a perfect representation of Southern Willamette Valley wines.
